Destiny Bar
Ice Cream, Animals, and Local Finds Just Minutes Off the Highway
Location: 60 Horners Rd, Carlisle, PA
Destiny Bar is a sweet roadside stop just 4 minutes off the highway that offers more than just ice cream. It’s part petting farm, part local market, and part treat-yourself destination. Inside, you’ll find a selection of local small business products alongside the ice cream counter, while outside, kids can meet friendly animals in a hands-on farm setting. A fun, quick escape that mixes snacks, smiles, and small-town charm.
What We Loved About This Place
A delightful barnyard mix: goats, chickens, roosters, pigs (they even let kids hold some pigs!), cows, and friendly farm dogs.
Animal feed is available on-site, and the staff are super helpful, guiding you on how to interact.
Shaded animal areas: seating under a tent where you can relax, watch, and snack.
Ice cream on-site, around $1.50 for a small 2‑oz scoop—no charge to swap cone into a bowl or use a spoon.
A tiny gift shop inside with soaps, lotions, trinkets, books, and a great souvenir option.
Things to Know Before You Go
Touching and holding animals is encouraged, especially baby pigs. Staff will assist
One porta-potty behind the barn
Sanitizer is available, but no hand-wash stations; bring your own (e.g., bottled soap & water)
Access path is stroller-friendly, but do not use strollers or wagons inside the animal areas. The space is tight, and animals roam
Grounds: gravel parking, dirt/mud in certain places, consider closed-toe shoes and possibly a change of clothes
Outdoor bug presence is mild, normal around animals. Bug spray recommended
No high chairs or boosters. Picnic tables under a tent.
Cars can enter/exit anytime, so watch kids closely; gravel noise helps
Dairy-free options are unknown; soft-serve is their recipe, not a big brand
Flight tastings available, try up to six flavors, ideal for kids who eat small portions.
Usually quiet and manageable, even on a Saturday around 4 PM.
Mom Tips
Bring hand sanitizer, wipes, bug spray, sunscreen, and a change of clothes.
Closed-toe shoes are best—keep little feet safe around mud and roaming animals.
Prep kids ahead: gentle touches, respect signs, and animal space.
Arrive ~4 PM for cooler temps, gentler lighting, and smaller crowds.
Sit under the shaded tent and eat ice cream while watching the animals.
Porta-potty warning: plan accordingly (e.g., stop nearby if needed).
Ideal visit: 30–45 minutes, perfect sweet-and-petting stop, not a full-day park.
